so I've just had a reply from tuneboss who I got in touch with months ago, and was hoping to become a uk distributor for.

This is an ECU which should work wiht Gen1 and Gen2 bikes (2014-2018) and allows both fuel and ingition timing adjustment. The gen2 version also has a sort of "auto tune" based on the narrwoband o2 sensor.

Apparently legend (of legend's garage on youtube) managed to hit 95mph on his gen2 with basically stock bike + TB ecu. I can't find the video for it now but will post it if i find it.

Rather than increasing the cylinder capacity, the tuneboss lets you extend the RPM range which is how you get the extra top end.

Now tbh extending the RPM and messing with ignition timing are both things which will let you kill your engine real quick if done wrong, so imho it should be set up on a dyno (my local place chrges about £200 for this). Though the gen2 version has a sort of auto-tune based off the narrowband o2 sensor. It's not perfect but might let you skip the dyno and still get a decent result.

Is this something there's any interest in if I can get hold of them? Idk if they're still makign them, or of there's any old stock or what, or what the cost is but I'm expecting to be abourt £300-350 after shipping, brexsh!t duty and whatnot. Even if they exist, quantities will prob be extremely limited as I'll probably have to buy them up front and I'm not made of money.

I don't think they've carried on doing the R+D for the 2019+ version as they don't have the R125 in malaysia, but if you have a 2019+ and can take a photo of the ECU plug I can ask and perhaps there's a version which is compatible.

If you're on an L-plate here in the uk then you're only allowed up to 125cc, so a big bore kit is illegal right out of the box, but a replacement ECU which extends the RPM range would kinda give you the same result but much closer to legal.

I've got a (gen1) bike booked in for some work in the next couple of weeks which is wanting one of these ECUs so if these ECUs come to pass, then I should know more once I've done that bike. I think it's getting dynod too so we might have some solid numbers then.

oh well.. turns out there's no more units to be had. So i guess that's that. They said they'll let me know fi they do another run but it's not likely.

Powertronic looks like the next best thing, should have one soon so let's see how that goes.

I've heard of it being done but i think there's better ways, depending on what year the bike is.
I will see with my friend if its possible, but if u want to go MAD MAX MODE u can put a ninja 250 engine in it haha! or even a mt03 660 engine, search it up someone has done it already!

I don't need to go mad max mode, this engine is great already and my bike is sorted, though I would like ignition control for mine at some point maybe. This powertronic unit isn't for my bike though so it's not up to me what goes on it ;)

otoh I was wondering about going the other direction..

Hi did you get a powertronics unit? I have been running one on my race r125 for 18 months with good results. There seems to be some glitch on the Cpk signal but it doesn't appear to be a problem. Just wondering if you had run into a similar issue.

hi, no I didn't in the end. It was supposed to be going on a bike I was due to do some work on but it seems to not have materialised.

Did you have yours dyno tuned then or how did you build a map for it?

The timing control looked useful potentially, have you made use of that?
