The 2012 Ride of Respect to raise money for a host of military charities has got full backing from the Royal British Legion for the first time and is now open for registrations.
The Ride of Respect was first staged in 2010 and became a huge event with 22,000 motorcyclists making their way through Royal Wootton Bassett to show their respect for all of those service personnel involved in current conflicts. That ride-out raised £150,000 for military causes.
The first ride started as a small local event but quickly grew into the biggest ride out on UK soil that year and raised tens of thousands of pounds for military causes.
The Royal British Legion is now fully affiliated with the ride and will be the primary beneficiary of the money raised but other military charities will be getting money too.
Because The Royal British Legion qualifies for Gift Aid, all donations from UK taxpayers can avoid paying any tax as long as the Gift Aid box is ticked on the form.
The scale of the ride out is now so huge that regional rides are now being organised in East Anglia, Leicester, Scotland and Surrey so more people can take part and more money can be raised.
