i just wanted to know if our bikes remind us how many miles we have left if we have been riding on one bar or even when the light comes on? as i would like to ride it until it says none is left. i know some bikes like my friends r1 wouldchange his trip clock to a 20mile count down until no fuel left.

reason why i want to do this is to find out how much i can get out of a full tank. also to clean all the crap out of bottom tank

thanks in advance

Yesterday for the first time my last fuel bar started flashing and it come up with another trip counter but only tells you how far you gone since you hit the reserve (Last 1.6litres of fuel) most people say reserve goes around 25-30 miles... i always reset trip 2 when i fill it right up to top and yesterday the trip counter was on 256miles when the reserve trip counter came on so that would have been aroung 280ish miles from a while tank of BP Premium.

On our computer it has two trip counters and when you go on to either trip 1 or trip 2 and hold down the button it will reset those counters to zero and then it is an easy way to see how many miles exactly you get from your tank... i have only ever filled up with BP Ultimate as my local garage is BP and usually get around 250-280 miles from a tank calculated but yesterday was the nearest i came to finding out. I usually fill up at around 200 miles as do not like the feel of the bike with low tank feels much nicer with full tank.

I can comfortably get 30 miles from my reserve tank if I continue riding with the same aggressive style, but I start getting nervous.
Not run out of fuel yet :)

I assume our bike doesn't have a consumption sensor, which is why it simply just counts the miles since hitting the reserve...

I know how the computer works :D just didnt know what you meant about reserve tank, what does it do when your it warns you? Also yeah I know what you mean about riding with a low tank, it has no ''UMMMFFHH'' in it. But its good to do it sometimes as it gets rid of the crap at the bottom and all the old petrol thats been sitting there for a while.

so when the light comes on we are on reserve and the trip monitor counts the miles done by that reserve?

It just comes up with a different trip counter that just runs from 0 till you stop i guess then when you fill up it just goes back to normal.
wicked cheers mate :) will see how i get on! would be interesting if people could also post in here the most miles they got out of a near enough full tank. where they top up and with what e.g. normal unleaded/ ultimate etc etc

we do not really have a reserve i don't think?? it just warns you that you have only 1.6 litres of fuel left. Also no light came up on mine just trip counter.
Well technically it isn't a reserve tank strictly speaking, it is just called that.

I can get 250miles on mine with out hitting the reserve. That's ragging it up and down the a38 all day aswell so red lining alot. God knows what it would be like if I was sensible and road through back roads. Really dont think theres any need for ultimate unleaded. The engines that small and basic surely it wont make naff all difference

Lol, NecroPost Level 716

But on that note

I get around 280-300 miles. (this include taking it to -30 on reserve)

However I ONLY use Shell's VPower Nitro + and yes it does make a difference.

The petrol not only helps the bike to perform better but it also keeps your engine clean and healthy.

I'm pretty much the same. only filled up with non vpower.... twice? and one of them was still tesco premium fuel rather than standard. most I've had is just over 300.
