hi man, is that Hypermotard yours? It's the bike alongside the Dorsoduro I was looking at getting purely because of control and improved handling over my YZF R125. I crashed last year in November and lost a lot of confidence in my bike so the Hypermotard stood out as a good replacement. Please let me know your experience with it :)

Hi there, yes the hyper is mine, thanks for asking. I actually came off it in febuary, I was the same losing all my confidence. Since then however I've done around 1500 miles on it and I'm finally now wearing the chicken strips down right to the edge. I feel my confidence is now back up to full, I even took a pillion today for the first time. I think the hyper is a fantastic bike, especially for building confidence. My friend has a dorsosuro and although it is a little quicker I'd never change mine for one. In my opinion they don't look, feel or just generally impress like the hyper does. I wouldn't reccomend jumping from an R125 onto a full power hyper though, I had a restricted XT660Z after my R125 which was a good stepping stone. This hyper is somthing else entirely though, it just pulls and pulls. I go riding often with a friend that has a K8 GSXR 1000 and although he gets me on the straights he can't keep up in the corners, and he certainly dosent have as much fun as I do. As a word of caution though, ducatis are quite expensive to maintain, a full service inc belts and valve clearing as well as everything else can cost upto £600. Though that only needs doing every 8k or so. On the whole I'd definatly reccomend one, I always wanted one which is why I did get one, if your the same then go for it. If not then maybe look at somthing similar with a smaller engine. Hope this helps, Miles.

Nice Miles - super insightful man I appreciate it :) I had a 2002 R6 when I lived in Devon but sold her to buy a new R125 because they wouldn't insure an R6 for me out here for less than 1,400 euros a year third party! Yeah seriously!! So I'm used to power and the R125 is def. lacking in that department. I really believe the lightweight and skinny rear tyre lets it down and as a result let me down last November. The lowside was absolutely stupid at 7mph on a roundabout - super embarrassing - the bike didn't grip for the way I was throwing her around :( Now I take it easy and keep in the lowest possible gear in bends/corners to help with traction and feedback. I haven't crashed as of yet and getting knee down is pretty pointless without adequate poke I barely get the opportunity or need to get my knee down, but I might get the hypermotard after listening to what you say about it. The service at £600 is nuts!!! Still worth it though - how tall are you? I'm only 5 foot 8 so I like bikes that suit my body type :) thks again mate
