Okay, soo...
I do this thing called Duke of Edinburgh, which as some of you may know, involves a lot of hiking.

I am doing my Gold, so they decided it is a good idea for us to do some **** weather practice.
So all this weekend, I am hiking.

I need to go buy some gear right now, then I have college, then I am leaving.
So I probably wont post again until LATE Sunday night.

I am not even 100% sure where I am going. I think it might be Dartmoor :S
I will take lots of pictures for you all :)
Although it will be dark for most of the walking sooo...

I honestly have no clue. I could show youbon an ordnance survey map, but other that its all fields, and marsh land, and hills, and bog, and nothingness.

Somewhere in exmoor, near the coast! Little / no civilisation anywhere nearby, other than a pub. Good to see they have their priorities right :p

good come back there cam lol!
i dont think i will be doin my gold anytime soon lol!
It's great!

The only thing I don't like, is that the bag is quite difficult as the longer period out requires substantially more space clothes / food wise meaning space really is at a premium.

I am now back home, and I had a cracking weekend despite getting soaked, stuck in bogs and marshes, and spending several hours trepsing about in the pitch black attempting to not get lost.
I dressed warm, wore sensible shoes, adjusted my bag correctly, used all the navigation techniques I have learnt and practised, and it was fine!

This was just the first of several practice walks.
My next walk is a day walk in the new forest in January, followed by the Brecon beacons soon after some time.
Eventually leading to my assessed walk in Dartmoor this summer :)

Well, you will probably do hikes around the year.
This weekend wasn't a normal hike.

It had a MUCH stronger focus on practice.
We had leaders with us the whole time, including some 'specialists' who came with especially to train us.
We were practicing our poor weather / visibility navigation.

Which meant rain, and low light (hence the night hiking).
My full on hikes (4 days?) will be in the summer!
Brecon Beacons!!!!!!
