Yes yes m8, I am not contradicting you. Gotta see if those ceramic based gold plated LED's are better, at least they claim that it resists up to 130ºC. I don't think it reaches that temperature.
Where have you seen them mate? Are they angel eyes???

Just did a quick search on "High temperature LED"
Nope m8, normal SMD LED's to apply anywhere you want to, I guess those are the ones you use on the angel eyes, aren't they?
Well, yeah, but it wasn't the LED's that failed, but the base for them (composite fibre) that failed! So, you'd have to make your own, and that's probably not very easy, considering they're RGB LEDs, mounted using 4 pads all leading to the next LED, until they hit the connector at the end. The connector is then wired to the controller which I suspect won't like any LEDs, only (I think) 5V.

damn m8, I wasn't expecting such a weak base. Like really? From all the stuff that could fail, it had to be the base? Is it that hard to get a temperature resistant base? I don't think so.
Well, it's not made for mounting on the reflector :p
But actually I don't know, that's the part that was blackened out and looked like it had burnt (it was partly apart) but it could might as well has been a led catching fire, I simply don't know.

LED are cool for us, humans (in both meanings) but those fuckers are so small that it produces a lot of concentrated heat. A bulb produces a lot more heat but in comparison, the dissipation area is some hundred times bigger.

That can both heat the support and heat the rubber in the connections causing a short circuit, killing the LED's since those are diodes (not sure but I think this is what happens)

So I am thinking of fitting angel eyes. I noticed you used 50mm ones perhaps if you used bigger ones they wouldn't have burnt? But then, would anything bigger fit inside? I'm looking at these 70mm ones http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-70mm...ighting_Lamps_Lighting_SM&hash=item43c79efb55
Might have been alright then, but the problem is that the headlight reflector is bending and therefor it would be more difficult to actually fit it well! But, you might have to try, as I haven't! :p

I reckon a little bit of epoxy putty would work? Or hot glue something in a position so you can then glue the circle to that?
That probably would work, but then the reflector would be useless for the bulb, since you would be blocking it! :/ I think the best thing to do is get projector headlights, I have but haven't fitted yet. My coloured rings will be replaced by white ones then, and I'll eventually change back to larger coloured rings :p

How do you know which projectors would fit inside the headlight unit tho? and then I would have to do the mod for no lights but I don't want to have to have a switch on the bike :(
Buy the smallest projectors you can find ;) Or simply take the headlight housing out and measure!

The ones I have, will be a really tight fit, like super tight and they're 2.5" I believe. So if you find 2" or smaller you'll be good!
