Hey Guys, im new to the r125 and iv got this issue where i woke up one morning drove to work, the when leaving work bike wouldn't start had to get it jumped so i had to get a jump.
tried charging the battery, which didnt work so i though okay ill buy a new battery, bought a new one, it ran for about a week and a half before i encountered the same problem, i can turn on the bike and the lights work and everything, just make a ticking/buzzing sound when i hid the ignition button though.

If anyone has had this issue before and could give me some knowledge that would be awesome, cheers.

sorry to hear you've been having this issue, not knowing whether it'll start is a pain in the ass when you gotta get to work :(

have you got a multimeter? If so it might be an idea to try measuring the battery voltage when it's disconnected and then when it's connected (but the ignition is off). If there's a difference there then perhaps you've got something quietly draining the battery.

Also when the bike is running the battery voltage ought to be higher, normally 13-14v i think, (because it's charging from the alternator). if the voltage is not higher when the bike is running then perhaps your alternator is dead (or a wire to/from it), in which case the bike electrics are running just off the battery (which isn't getting charged like it should) and would give you the sort of symptoms you describe... and yeah, I guess a full charge might last a week or so tops.

Lastly if there's any non-standard electricals that might be a good place to start looking too in case a previous owner has done some shonky wiring, or wired something in which bypasses the ignition or whatever...e.g. aftermarket gauges, usb adapters, lighting etc.

Hope that helps :)

If you have a multimeter connect it to the battery then try to start the bike. If the voltage drops and keeps dropping as the bike turns over then your battery isn't holding its charge.

The clicking noise you stated, where is the clicking? Under pillion seat, Or under riders seat (remove it before turning bike over). The big block covered with a rubber sock at the back of the battery is the starter relay. If its that that is clicking then try a replacement starter relay.

Hey fellas, I bought a new starter relay but it still isn't starting.
I bought a new rectifier as well cause I read somewhere that might also be the problem, but if now if you got any other ideas, let me know as, I hate using the bus, it's a nightmare

You need to identify where the clicking noise is coming from. There are some relays under the pillion seat which although are not associated with starting procedure if you have water in the electrics then strange things can happen with the R125. (I got water in the heated grips which caused my brake light relay to switch on/off making the brake light flash quickly).

If you have metered the battery when you press the starter button and the voltage is not plummeting then next you need to check you have a good spark. Remove the spark plug and put the HT lead back onto the plug again then make sure the electrode is against the bike frame and press the starter button. You should see a good strong spark from the plug.

Is the fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition on?

Do you know when the valves was last checked on the bike? If the exhaust side are out of range then these can make the bike very difficult to start from the button, but if you hold the throttle open whilst pressing the starter button the bike will usually pop into life after cranking for about 20 seconds.
